What we do

We are passionate about improving education in South Africa. With our unique and proven teaching methodology, along with our hardworking staff we believe we can make a difference. By helping one child and one educator at a time we can succeed at improving education in South Africa.

Our Mission

Living through Learning’s mission is to provide training and interventions to support educators and learners in South Africa.
We provide youth with a chance to flourish in their formative schooling years by developing and improving their literacy levels, ignite educators’ passion to provide a sound foundation for learners through practical training, and build learners’ confidence and ability to achieve their career dreams through a hands-on pedagogy.

What makes Living Through Learning unique

We have over 35 years experience.
We have a proven workable and highly effective pedagogy. We measure both the qualitative and quantitative outcomes. We have a learner-centric approach to improving performance.
We focus on the learner’s ability to apply what they are learning, in real world situations.

Our History

While Living Through Learning was founded in 2012, the directors had been working with dreams of creating an organisation like this for ten years prior. Much has been accomplished in terms of uplifting the community around them. The comprehensive and integrated. Foundation Phase Literacy programme which has been used by over 30 000 learners has yielded increases in their literacy rate up to 80% in average scores.

In the news

With the help of Coronation Fund Managers Literacy Partner, Living Through Learning, the new book “Yola and the Trusted Crown” was gifted to 25 000 children from 26 schools as part of a “Big Read” celebration during International Literacy Hour.

Learners from across all 26 schools submitted a video recording of their performance of the organisation’s new children’s book “Yola and the Trusted Crown” – an inspired homegrown story that shares a positive message of resilience and hope for the children in learning to cope with the impacts of Covid-19.

Living through Learning and Albany Bread

We are happy to announce a partnership with Albany Bread who are sponsoring bread for our learners every week for a year. To kick the launch of this partnership off, Albany visited Levana Primary School and brought Marc Lottering along to read for the learners. Thank you to Albany Bread for their assistance in helping learners reach their full potential.
