GrandWest: Wild About Reading Room

Living Through Learning started the Valhalla project in Term 3 of the school year. Principals, educators and learners were mesmerized by the creativity and colourful “Wild About Reading” literacy Room. Over 160 learners rotate through the Wild About Reading literacy room on a daily basis with all the resources needed to improve learners’ literacy holistically.

The facilitator, trained to follow the prescribed daily lesson plans designed by LTL, which incorporates the WCED’s CAPS Program, is what gets the results at the end of the day. Learners successfully completed the LTL curriculum for Term 3.

Living Through Learning implemented the Wild About Reading literacy program in three Grade 1 and one Grade 2 classrooms. This programme started on 25 July 2023.

In as little as 180 hours to date with LTL’s intervention, a 5% increase in the learners’ overall literacy intelligence was achieved. Not only has literacy increased, but confidence in reading, writing and character development was also achieved.
